Microcurrent

M.E.N.S. Microcurrent Electrical Neural Stimulation

Microcurrent is a subtle but very powerful current. The treatment levels are usually subsensory. The patient usually does not feel the current. Researchers believe that the effects expected to occur are at the electrochemical level within the body’s tissues, literally at the level of the cell.

Microcurrent instruments differ greatly from traditional TENS (milliampere) units: 1000 microamps is equal to one milliamp. Microamperage current is 1000 times less than milliamperage and more conducive to the body’s natural healing currents. TENS blocks pain via the “gate control theory.” M.E.N.S. decreases pain by working at the cellular level and healing the injured tissues.

Patients will obtain far better results when well hydrated. It is recommended that all patients drink at least one eight-ounce glass of water per day. Water helps to rid the body of waste products; it is the best treatment for fluid retention and helps maintain proper muscle tone as well as aiding in bodily functions. Patients who drink high levels of coffee, tea, soda, alcohol, and other diuretics with little water intake are at a higher risk of being dehydrated and may have reoccurring muscle cramps, retention of fluids in their hands and feet, tight muscles, and headaches.

Patients are encouraged to drink water regularly every day when being treated with microcurrent therapy to obtain optimal results.

Chiropractors, naturopaths, physical therapists, athletic trainers, medical and osteopathic doctors, dentists, and other health professionals successfully utilize microcurrent therapy.

Microcurrent therapy is widely used among professional sports teams and Olympic athletes around the world due to its tremendous pain-relieving and healing effects.
