Classical Chinese Medicine

Classical Chinese Medicine is based on a practical philosophy; it is a way of life and nurturing one’s health and also has many therapeutic modalities. There is no conflict between its practical application and its use as a meditation on the natural world through natural science. This vision has sustained generations of great physicians and produced many medical texts that were many years ahead of their time. Study in this system is concurrent with practice; they inspire and inform each other. The scholar physician is the pinnacle of a medicine that is a profession, a daily practice, a study regimen, an immersion in life, an expression of compassion, and so much more.

Classical Chinese medicine is an approach that prevents illness, and when illness arises, the physician works in harmony with nature and the laws of the universe to dislodge the disease from the body, mind, and spirit.

A Classical Chinese Medicine (CCM) viewpoint – addressing cause. OUR APPROACH.

Acupuncture based on the classics of Chinese Medicine views acupuncture differently. The western medical approach to acupuncture deals with symptoms and western disease diagnoses, “the Outer” manifestation, the “Branches”. Classical Chinese Medicine uses all modalities of Chinese Medicine to address “the Inner”, “the Root”, the Cause of “The Outer” symptomatic Western diagnoses. We strive to deal with the imbalances that cause symptoms or disease, not change the symptoms. If cause is addressed then symptoms and disease will be changed by the body as it heals itself. This is the same approach followed in Classical Ayurvedic and Tibetan medicine.
